London's coat of arms features two dragons. Thirteen cast iron dragons mark the boundary of the City of London, the oldest part of the city, corresponding to the site of Londinum, Roman London, although London itself is much older.

 

Dragons may refer to the source of the early wealth of the city: the key place of trade and dispersal for the rare and precious metals to be found in Britain's west.
