ANTIKYTHERA MECHANISM

ANTIKYTHERA MECHANISM

Corroded bronze fragments of a complex ancient astronomical calendar / calculator / device. Wikipedia calls it "an ancient Greek hand-powered analogue computer". Its 37 gears track the sun and moon and predict eclipses. Discovered in a shipwreck off the coast of Crete in 1901, it is more than 2,000 years old and predates other known examples of similar technology by more than 1,000 years.
